FINAL PROJECT
The Final Project was an assignment that could have been a poster, photo story, public service announcement, or a political cartoon. The final project was to reflect on an issue and was to create an awareness and the prevention, or stopping of the issue. The visual had to show how awareness is need towards the issue and must also show the terrible actions that could be taken if it is not prevented or stopped.

POLITICAL CARTOON
To: English 1611

Subject: Cyber Bullying
This semester the subject that I chose was cyber bullying. The main reason I chose it was basically because I wanted to bring awareness to the class and it needs to be brought to attention. It was a subject that I found very interesting and I thought it would be great to learn more about as well.
For the final project I did choose a political cartoon. I chose it mainly because I thought that the sarcasm of a political cartoon would best display the message that I wanted to be known. I also believed that it was a good way to involve the government and society. I liked how my imagination could really run wild with the fact that I could possibly use and say anything because it is supposed to be sarcastic.
During the project the part that was most challenging would have to be how to portray the sarcasm. I had a bit of trouble thinking of ways to use the government and society. How could I make the government the bully? Finally I thought of using the president as the bully, showing that anyone can bully you over the internet. It seemed to fit perfect in the fact that how could the president be the bully. In fact it could be anyone in world. It all depends on what someone chooses to do. I thought that if it comes down to the choice of any person then even the president can bully a person and if that can happen then it must show that it does need to be stopped and people need to be aware of who’s out there.
The project did bring out a most rewarding part for me and that was the way I implied that what “Mr. President” was doing led to suicide and denial. I also like the fact that I placed it as exit signs to the doors because literally after everything happens through bullying, a lot of the victims tend to keep quiet and not say anything or possibly kill themselves keeping it “behind closed doors.” I also like how I incorporated the statistics of the percentages of suicides and denials from cyber bullying inside the doors also giving off the “behind closed doors” theory. The message to that meaning is what may await any person depending on what you choose to do after you’re bullied. I liked how these two ideas really bring about two major points needing to be aware of because one may never know their bully and yet it can lead to the end of a life.
The fact that the President of the United States, one of the most powerful persons in the world, is the bully really shows how it can be anyone. It was the most effective part of the political cartoon and gave off what I believe is the most powerful message. It seems scary to think that if the President can cyber bully a person what is stopping anyone else.
I thought cyber bullying was an interesting subject that it involves everyone in the world with access to the internet. My political cartoon shows that really anyone can be the bully it’s just the fact of whether or not person will or will not bully people. That is the main message of my political cartoon, be aware of who’s out there with access to technology because it can be anyone, and you may be the one “behind closed doors.”
Sincerely,
Erick Alvarado
